The curvaceous, yet rugged exterior makes the 2008 one of the most stylish choices in the compact crossover class. Four trim options start with the entry level Access, followed by the Active, Allure and Feline. The distinctive vertical grille is flanked by remodelled headlights, which are two-tone in black and chrome on the Allure and Feline trims. Extended wheel arches and a rear spoiler complement the sporty look, while roof bars add both style and practicality.
The inside is roomy, with space to seat five adults comfortably. The 410-litre boot capacity beats most of the car’s class rivals, and can be increased to 1,400 litres with 60:40 split-folding rear seats folded down. Plenty of glass lets light flood into the car, particularly in the Allure trim and up which features a panoramic glass roof. An easy-to-operate colour touchscreen is provided for all your entertainment needs.
There are two engine types to choose from – the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.6-litre diesel, each of which is available with a choice of power outputs. Petrol options include a robotised manual edition, and a fully automatic six-speed version. For sporty performance, the 128bhp 1.2-litre petrol edition is the best choice. The diesel options score highest on fuel economy and low CO₂ emissions, all below 97g/km, reducing running costs still further and with no road tax payable.
Safety features fitted as standard on the 2008 include ABS, electronic stability control and traction control. Active City Brake helps you to avoid accidents when the vehicle is moving at speeds below 20mph. Automatic braking is triggered when sensors detect a vehicle at close range ahead of your car, an optional safety feature for the Active trim. Park assist technology is available on the Allure trim and up. The 2008 is exclusively front-wheel drive, helping to minimise the car’s weight while keeping costs down. Peugeot’s Grip Control on higher spec editions gives added traction in adverse weather conditions, with all-weather tyres also provided.
